My introduction to IQ

Another introduction story again. I have discovered so many bands through different ways (and not the usual “Hey, listen to this” happenings), so I thought that it’s fun to share those stories with you! Today’s story is about the band IQ!

Pendragon & John Young, Live at the Boerderij Zoetermeer, 14 May 2016

First of all, my sincere apologies! It took some time before this one was published on the website of Background Magazine, so I had to wait until today. I hope you guys didn’t mind!

This would be the first time I would see John Young as a solo performer on stage. I’ve never seen the band Pendragon live, and I heard from several friends that they are a great band to watch. I had the honour to interview John Young and Nick Barrett right before the gig, and you can listen to the interview here. Pendragon was going to play their album The Masquerade Overture in its entirety, to celebrate the 20^th anniversary of this album. The venue was completely sold out, which is great news for the band, but sadly no good news for me, because I had to squeeze myself through the audience to take pictures from different angles of the venue. Luckily I managed to get some amazing shots of both John Young and Pendragon that evening.

Yes, time for my Sunday blog post again! Yesterday was a long day for me, roving around in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands… So I thought it would be fun to make a small report of that day, along with some photos, and even a video! 

LizZard & Adrian Belew Power Trio, Live at the Boerderij Zoetermeer, 25 February 2016

This was the first time I would see both opener band LizZard and the Adrian Belew Power Trio live. I never heard the music of LizZard so I was very curious how they would sound like. I know Adrian Belew’s work with King Crimson and have heard some of his solo albums as well. Still, I had no clue what to expect that evening and which music he would play.

Komara & O.R.k., live at the Boerderij Zoetermeer, 17 February 2016

First, I would like to apologize because this concert review is a bit shorter than my concert reviews. The most important reason is that I actually was completely caught up in the music of both bands, and because of that I totally forgot to make notes during the gigs.

So this was February 2016… (And I hope I will be back soon with a working PC… DARNIT!)

First of all: Apologies again! It seems like my computer is still suffering from technical problems, which means I can’t do much when it comes to writing, reviewing and all the other stuff I would like to do and need to do to keep my work flowing. I really hope that the problems will get solved soon! Anyway, let’s continue with some good news…
