Another introduction story again. I have discovered so many bands through different ways (and not the usual “Hey, listen to this” happenings), so I thought that it’s fun to share those stories with you! Today’s story is about the band IQ!
While I was listening to some Amplifier I thought “Why not write something about how I discovered their music”? So, here it is, my introduction to the music of the band Amplifier!
First, a big THANK YOU to all for reading my blog posts “My introduction to Porcupine Tree Part I and Part II” (if you havent read them, click here for Part I and here for Part II). A lot of people have read and commented on it (mostly via Facebook), and there were some people asking me for my personal story/opinion about Steven Wilson‘s solo music… So here it is!
When I was a young teenager I was into rock and metal. My favourite band was Nickelback, which I discovered back in 2001, when I was twelve years old. Of course, Nickelback is still one of my favourite bands out there, so you’re allowed to point your pitchforks at me, haha! I always had the feeling that I ‘missed’ something in the rock and metal music I listened to. It was too ‘straightforward’, while I was looking for rock music with surprising elements, a certain atmosphere and ‘more going on than the regular rock music’.
