We have something to celebrate my dear readers, listeners, artists, fans, friends and followers! Grendel Headquarters is exactly one year old since today! Time for cake, good music and party hats!
WordPress just reminded me that I made this website a year ago! Wow, I can’t believe it! My first post was my interview with Mike Thorne from SAGA, which I posted on 22 May 2015 (You can listen to that interview here)… “But Iris, it’s the 18th of May???”Correct! But this was the day when the website was finally ‘up’, even though I posted nothing yet!
I can’t thank you all enough! Thanks to you (yes, you, who is reading this right now) Grendel HQ exists! You made sure that this page is still going strong, and I hope this little Grendel fella will continue to grow and turn into a monster of a webpage!
Why the name Grendel Headquarters? It’s not even something I made up, but my good friend Ian Beabout (who has a wonderful show named Deep Cuts) came up with the name! It was all about a fictional press release he had to write for one of his school projects, so he came up with the name Grendel Headquarters, and used my name in the letter as well! I felt so honoured that he used my name in the letter and also thought “Grendel Headquarters would be a fantastic name for a website where I can put all my ‘reporter work’ at the moment!”. I think most ‘prog fans’ know where Grendel stands for, right?
It is also my one year anniversary as a roving reporter, and I hope there are more anniversaries to come! I still love what I do (interviews, writing gig/album reviews and more) every single day, and I hope you still enjoy all my reviews, interviews and other adventures!
As you probably noticed, I finally have a ‘Donate’ button on my webpage! You can finally sponsor your roving reporter, which is very needed at the moment! Read more about the fact why you should sponsor your roving reporter here: https://grendelhq.wordpress.com/2016/05/18/about-sponsoring-me/
A big thank you as always, and a big hug and and extra kiss for you, my dear follower! And oh… Would you like some extra whipped cream on your slice of cake?
Iris, aka Ier!
PS: As you can see, there’s a ‘subscribe’ section on the left side of the page (just under ‘categories’). When you enter your email address (or click the ‘follow’ button) you will get my latest posts/updates automatically in your inbox!
